Hurry up and don’t miss your chance! The nominations for the 3D Printing Industry Awards 2023 are now open. An incredible breakthrough has been made by Peopoly, a 3D printer manufacturer based in Hong Kong. They have recently launched the Magneto X, the world’s first MagLev-based desktop FFF 3D printer. This innovative printer replaces traditional belts and pulleys with a proprietary MagXY magnetic linear motor system for its X and Y axes. By using magnet-driven technology, this system enables high-speed and precise 3D printing.

You may be wondering, what does MagLev technology have to do with a 3D printer? Normally, MagLev is associated with high-speed trains and low-noise aerospace applications. However, earlier this year, MagLev Aero, a Boston-based vertical flight system developer, partnered with GE Additive’s AddWorks consultancy team to create their own MagLev HyperDrive aero propulsion platform. Designed for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, this magnet-powered platform utilizes MagLev technology.

Peopoly’s new MagLev 3D printer, the Magneto X, is now available for pre-order on their official website. You can also see it in action for the first time at the East Coast RepRap Festival (ERRF) from September 30 to October 1. Initially, the Magneto X will be available to customers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Australia, with shipments starting in mid-November.

So, what sets the Magneto X apart from other 3D printers? The key feature lies in Peopoly’s proprietary MagXY magnetic levitation linear motor system, which controls the X and Y axes of the printer. Instead of using traditional belts and pulleys, the MagXY system employs electromagnet technology, eliminating common artifacts found in FFF 3D printers, such as ringing and vertical fine artifacts (VCA). Furthermore, this system remains cool during printing, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability within 3 microns. The closed-loop system with position feedback allows the motor to self-correct lost steps, providing optimized performance data.

Compared to stepper motors, 3D printers reliant on the Magneto X’s linear motor system maintain precision even under heavy loads. This system also offers streamlined motion, eliminating the need for tension adjustments or extruder replacements, common in traditional belt-driven 3D printers. The lower rail friction extends the printer’s lifespan, reducing frequent calibrations and downtime, resulting in long-term cost savings. With these advantages, the MagLev 3D printer is perfect for high-production applications like home businesses and 3D print farms.

In addition to its durability, the Magneto X boasts impressive speed capabilities. It can achieve 3D print speeds of up to 1200mm/s, with a maximum acceleration speed of 22,000mm2/s. Often, high-speed printing sacrifices quality and reliability. However, Peopoly has overcome this issue by ensuring the extrusion system can quickly and consistently extrude material, maintaining both quality and speed.

The Magneto X’s extruder, known as Lancer, provides an extrusion force of 90 Newtons and a filament speed of 30mm/s. It can reach a maximum flow rate of up to 60mm3/s, thanks to its variable-length melt zone. The printer also features a standard E3D V6 volcano-style nozzle, which is easily replaceable and compatible with a wide range of filaments.

To ensure precise automatic bed leveling, the Magneto X’s four independently driven Z-axis rods are calibrated before each print. This calibration is performed by the load sensor, followed by a 48-point mesh measurement on the build plate, which can quickly heat up to 130℃, capturing detailed data for calibration. The mesh data sets the Z-offset, guaranteeing precise automatic bed leveling. Additionally, the filament sensor constantly monitors material levels, preventing print failures caused by material depletion.

With its impressive 400 x 300 x 300 mm build volume, the Magneto X provides ample space for creating large-scale prints. Whether you’re a professional or hobbyist, this printer offers the speed, precision, and reliability needed to bring your ideas to life.

Don’t waste any more time! Nominate now for the 3D Printing Industry Awards 2023 and stay ahead of the latest 3D printing innovations. And if you’re looking for a game-changer in desktop FFF 3D printers, look no further than the Peopoly Magneto X. Experience the power of MagLev technology in the world of 3D printing.

Peopoly, a leading manufacturer of 3D printers, has recently launched their new Magneto X model, which boasts a range of impressive features and capabilities. This state-of-the-art 3D printer is perfect for creating parts for various applications and is compatible with a wide range of materials, including PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, and Nylon-Carbon Fiber.

One standout feature of the Magneto X is its 300℃ hot end, which allows for high-temperature printing and enables the use of materials that require higher temperatures. The printer also comes equipped with 0.4 mm copper and hardened steel nozzles, ensuring durability and versatility in printing.

In terms of user experience, the Magneto X features a 7” IPS touchscreen user interface, making it easy to navigate and control the printer. The printer runs on Klipper firmware, which offers a transparent code base, ensuring that data is not stored or sent to the cloud. This ensures both operability and full security and IP protection.

The Magneto X also offers multiple connectivity options, including WiFi, Ethernet, and an SD card offline mode. This allows users to choose the connection method that suits their needs best. Additionally, a 1080P HiDef camera is included, providing real-time monitoring of the 3D printing process and enabling time-lapse recording.

Peopoly has also taken into consideration the practicality of the Magneto X. Optional side enclosure panels and a top cover are available, providing additional protection and insulation during printing. The printer comes with a 1000W AC power supply and a PEI magnetic surface for easy removal of printed parts. Furthermore, a jetstream-style side fan ensures consistent cooling, even during fast 3D prints.

The Magneto X is available for pre-order now, starting at $1399 USD. However, the price is expected to increase to $1999 USD once the pre-order period ends. Peopoly has stated that the printer will be delivered as a fully assembled unit, but users will need to mount the heat bed themselves, a process that takes only three minutes.

In terms of technical specifications, the Magneto X offers a maximum 3D print speed of 800mm/s at a 0.2mm layer height and 1200mm/s at a 0.1mm layer height. The maximum travel speed is 1500mm/s, and the maximum acceleration is 22000mm/s². The 3D print volume is 400 x 300 x 300 mm, and the build platform measures 400 x 300 mm. The printer dimensions are 55 x 61 x 70 cm.

The Magneto X utilizes Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) technology and features a MagXY motion system. The printer offers exceptional movement precision, with an error correction capability of full closed-loop control. The leveling process is made easy with 48 mesh points auto-leveling via a load cell sensor.

When it comes to slicer compatibility, the Magneto X supports Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer, and Cura, allowing users to choose their preferred slicing software. The printer’s firmware, Klipper, ensures optimal performance and reliability.
