“The Latest Innovations in Jewellery Manufacturing: 3D Systems Introduces Game-Changing Solutions” by Laura Griffiths

In today’s fast-paced world, industries are constantly searching for innovative solutions to meet the ever-evolving needs of their customers. The jewellery manufacturing industry is no exception, with the demand for unique designs and high-quality products on the rise. Addressing this need, 3D Systems has recently launched its latest additions to their end-to-end solutions for jewellery manufacturing, further solidifying their commitment to their customers.

The MJP 300W 3D printer and VisiJet Wax Jewel Ruby material are the newest members of 3D Systems’ additive manufacturing (AM) lineup, specifically designed for the jewellery market. These cutting-edge technologies offer users unparalleled design freedom and improved surface finish, allowing them to bring their creative visions to life.

The MJP 300W is 3D Systems’ most advanced and flexible wax 3D printer to date. It introduces two new print modes, QHD and UHD, which revolutionize the printing process. The QHD mode elevates the resolution to an incredible 2,000 dpi in X, 1,800 dpi in Y, and 2,900 dpi in Z – a more than 50% improvement compared to the previous generation. This enhanced precision translates into superior surface finish, reducing the need for extensive post-processing.

On the other hand, the UHD mode boasts double the print speed of its predecessor, the ProJet MJP 2500W Plus. With increased throughput and reduced labor for finishing and polishing, manufacturers can optimize their production processes and reduce time-to-market.

To complement these groundbreaking printers, 3D Systems has developed the VisiJet Wax Jewel Ruby material. This pure wax material offers both flexibility and excellent dimensional stability in high-temperature environments, making it ideal for maintaining intricate jewellery designs during the moulding process. Moreover, the material’s increased thermal stability allows for the pre-setting of stones, streamlining the production of final pieces.

The integration of these printers, materials, and software is seamless, ensuring reliability and ease of use for jewellery manufacturers. Marty Johnson, Vice President of Product & Technical Fellow at 3D Systems, highlights the company’s commitment to customer needs, stating, “We are enabling our jewellery manufacturing customers to achieve new levels of innovation, quality, and reliability.” By providing end-to-end solutions, 3D Systems empowers manufacturers to innovate and meet the demands of their discerning customers.

In addition to the printers and materials themselves, 3D Systems has also enhanced the user experience by introducing an industrial stack light that enables easy monitoring of print progress. Furthermore, reliability improvements through print head and hardware modifications increase uptime, reducing maintenance costs and maximizing productivity.

This latest development from 3D Systems follows their previous expansions in the jewellery manufacturing sector, including the ProJet MJP 2500W Plus wax system and the Figure 4 JCAST-GRN 20 resin. By consistently introducing cutting-edge technologies to the market, 3D Systems further establishes itself as the leader in additive manufacturing for jewellery.

The MJP 300W and VisiJet Wax Jewel Ruby are set to be available in November 2023, promising to revolutionize the jewellery manufacturing industry. As 3D Systems brings metal and polymer AM systems in-house, the future looks bright for quicker production and reduced lead times.
